What’s happening to the tick life cycle?

The month of May brings many things, among them Mother’s Day, tulips, and Lyme Disease Awareness campaigns. But according to Dr. Richard S. Ostfeld, a disease ecologist at Cary, if we want to get a leg up on tick-borne illness we need to become vigilant earlier in the season.

Ticks have been nuts in north central Indiana since early March. I’m all for it moving to March.

I haven’t had anyone tell me about it if they have. Just me. I reached out to Potato Creek State Park to encourage them to post information about Deer Ticks and Lyme Disease and they didn’t even bother to respond to the e-mail. However, the local Izaak Walton League put up flyers and info all over the property to educate everyone. I think that’s awesome!
